I have to spread the word on something I discovered yesterday at my local organic store. I know it’s just barely passed Halloween but this was something I stumbled on and I’m so excited. Due to Sydney’s food allergies (nuts, seeds and food colouring) Halloween is bad enough with the mountains of candy in front of her and only a few that she can eat. So when it comes to Christmas it’s just as bad. Either people give her little treats that she is unable to have or worse when it comes to decorating the Christmas tree a tradition in our house is to trim the tree with candy canes. Well, candy canes all have that lovely red 40 and tartazine (yellow). She’d put them on the tree and there they would sit constantly reminding her of what she can’t have.
Well, oh I’m so excited! Thanks to the people at “Pure Fun” candy company they have just brightened our Christmas. I occassionally buy candy such as lollipops and hard candies but yesterday I discovered that they have Candy Canes! That’s right Candy Canes. The ingredients are:
- Organic Evaporated Cane Juice
- Organic Brown Rice Syrup
- Organic Citric Acid
- Natural Beet Extract
- Natural Peppermint Oil
So this year we can enjoy trimming the tree and Sydney can enjoy having a traditional Christmas treat. Thanks Pure Fun!
