Well, it’s been a week today since we stepped into this wonderful new place. It’s been a hectic week but a week of new beginnings, sore joints, bruises and numerous trips to Walmart and Home Depot. Thank goodness Dave is off this week.
The kids have managed to adjust really well so far. I don’t want to say too much to jinx the future but so far when asked they both say that they, “love” the new house. Both have taken claim to their new rooms and despite the fact that the walls are still painted white they have both added their individual touches and are settling in quite well.
Ehren has had a couple sleepless nights and I have ended up in his bed more times than I can tell you. He’s currently working on a letter for all of his friends explaining all the new discoveries. Our next door neighbours boy across the street whose about 4 years younger is just enthralled by Ehren and every time we’re outside you can hear him yelling, “EEHHREN”. He’s more than happy to oblige him with a wave followed by a crazy face and then a yell back. Within the first 6 hours of us being here Ehren kicked the ball into our next door neighbours backyard, he’s not aware of the power of his kick and it’s going to take a little while to get ourselves reconfigured to an actual backyard not a side yard not backing onto anyone.
Sydney celebrated her birthday up here on Wednesday and she’s doing so well. Since we’ve been so busy and have had so much to do we took her to Chuck E Cheese and she even went on the mini rollercoaster simulation ride. Despite the late nights and waking up not remembering where you are she’s doing wonderful, we are so proud of her. She’s my best helper unpacking boxes, putting stuff away and just being a great there when I need a hand. Thanks to the help of one of my good friends, Sydney was able to unpack most of her boxes and we re-arranged her bedroom so that it’s fit for a Princess.
The kids both miss their friends and still talk about them, as do I. It really is wonderful here, the view of the sunset is spectacular, the traffic noise is non-existent and the people at the retail stores are so friendly. Our neighbours so far have been wonderful and our immediate neighbour beside us was offering to make a Tim’s run last Friday when we were pulling stuff out of storage. But, it’s my friends that I miss seeing. Once Dave is off to work next week I’m sure I’ll feel a little lonely and I’ll wish that I was back at the old house.
